Amanda L. Iglesias
Amanda Iglesias is an architectural designer for Robert A.M. Stern Architects in New York City, where she is pursuing licensure and working in the firm’s high-end residential studio.
She holds a B.A. in Studio Art from Wheaton College ('14), an M.Arch from the Yale School of Architecture ('18), and an M.Phil in Architecture and Urban Studies at the University of Cambridge ('19). Her research examined the ecclesiastical architecture of Christopher Wren, from his famed St. Paul’s Cathedral to the London City Churches. She was awarded the 2018 ADAM Travel Fellowship to examine the postwar churches of Germany and Denmark. More recently, she received the 2020 RAMSA Prize to study the iconic architecture and history of Harlem.
Amanda is interested in the tensions inherent to sacred architecture. Beyond their invocation of the ineffable, sacred spaces are a material arbiter of a body politic and its requisites of corporate identity, participation, and exemption. Her architectural drawings explore these tensions.
